A new walk

Today has been nice and sunny even though the wind was a bit chilly, we decided that we would try to find the bridle way that led up to Mear  downs and on to Northcotte mouth,  Hubby had looked it up on google so knew roughly how to find it. A lot of the footpaths around here have steps so not accessibly for a wheelchair user, so was hoping that the bridleway would be ok,  We found it ok but looked a bit rough but got this far so see what happens after a bumpy ride and me having to give him an occasional push we made it onto the downs  then things were a lot better some nice views from up there.

Looking back to crooklets  beach

Ahead as we walked

Lundy Island in the distance
We passed this camp site where we had  spent many happy holidays in the 80's when the kids were younger we used to walk up over the downs and climb the stairs to the top  or walk into Bude,   we always came in May and   If my memory is working  right always seemed to have nice weather.

We found this lovely tea gardens and stopped there for a while its  called "the Rustic  tea gardens"  and  is really nice, the lady who owns it is so  lovely . we had tea and some coffee and walnut cake which was really nice,  the gardens are so pretty with a stream running through it  and lots of  interesting bit dotted around the garden like  this crocodile and these meercats

Pots of flowers, bird tables  all sorts of ornaments  so many things to look at. there were some children and dogs playing in the stream so nice to watch them having fun.
It was sheltered from the wind so was really nice to be able to just sit there and relax.

We left there and started our journey home deciding to walk up the country lanes instead of back over the downs, there wasn't much traffic   so  we managed ok but was glad when we could get back onto a footpath that took us almost home it was a long walk and was glad to take my shoes off and relax  but it was good. so lucky to live in such a beautiful place now,
